Setting the Stage

The Denver Nuggets are in the Western Conference Finals. I can't even believe that I am saying this. Yeah, we all knew they were a #2 seed in the west but I don't think any of us really thought that they'd be in this position. If you did, hit me back on the comments and let me know. I'll call you a liar, but still let me know.

So we have one half of the scene set in the Western Conference with the Denver Nuggets. Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups have been spectacular. And even though the Nuggets "Eddie Housed" the Dallas Mavericks it was an entertaining series because of all the off the court drama. Funny that Mark Cuban had the nerve to invite the Nuggets' family to watch the game from his suite if the series returned to Dallas!

Not sure if Carmelo Anthony's wife Alani "La La" Vasquez would take you up on that offer Mark. I went to Piscataway High school with La La in New Jersey and she's a sweet girl but not sure if she's a sit in your "suite" girl. And mind you, this is allegedly after Vasquez was racially taunted. Vasquez said "Obviously the playoff games bring out the best and the worst in fans but what happened on Monday night with the racial slurs/threats, verbal attacks on my son and physical attacks to myself by irate fans was unacceptable." She also said in a statement released, "The fans were totally out of control. What the cameras caught was me defending myself and didn't show the abuse that was taking place."

Damn! I used to like the city of Dallas. But don't be messing with my girl Alani "La La" Vasquez. She's from my hometown of Piscataway, NJ and even played JV basketball with my sister. No game at all! But Carmelo's the one in the family with the game. Beats being Sheldon Williams.

Chauncey Billups may be my new favorite player. It's not like this guy is a spring chicken anymore. He's 32 years old but getting it done like a seasoned veteran should. The guy is a winner. I saw on SportsCenter today that he has been in the Conference Finals for 7 straight years now! That's what you call stats, facts. Jay-Z said it best once, "Men lie, woman lie, numbers don't." Billups is putting up numbers in these playoffs. But his past numbers speak volumes and now he is one series away from putting his hometown team in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1985.

But don't get all excited Denver fans, cause the Lakers will be waiting. Don't get mad Houston Fans cause I just dissed and dismissed you. I can hear my brother Jihad now, saying "Are you crazy?" He lives in Houston, but even my loyalty to family can't stop me from stating the obvious. It's over for H-town tonight. I think this guy was from Houston. How did he know??

Besides I'm jumping around like a little kid in a candy store waiting on this Carmelo Anthony vs. Kobe Bryant match up. Should make for a really good series. And not to bring up old stuff but I'm not sure Kobe's really fond of the state of Colorado on a whole. I played with this guy and I know he doesn't forget easily and will use that whole fiasco for motivation.

If you were Lebron James and the Cavaliers who would you wanna play? Hmmm! Let's think. There's Orlando........ Or there's Boston............. I would think Boston. No big guy in the paint and King James could have his way with the Celtics. Orlando I think is a tougher matchup with the 3-point shooting and also Superman in the paint. So I say this to Lebron. Get your green and white pom-poms out tonight if you want to be in the finals.

Well Dwight Howard might just be helping Lebron out. It kills me when guys go to war all year for the coach and then at the end when things start going bad they want to jump ship. Dwight Howards has been one of my favorite players in the last couple of years. He's a fun loving guy and has said all the right things. Now he wants to start coaching. You got to ride or die with your coach. Address those things behind the camera. You don't want to do that to the media. The two have said that they have put it behind them. But I'm not sure if you ever really get over something like that. Well see.

On another note, why can't cats just come clean? Isn't it better to plead guilty rather than do more time in the long run? Why do cats want to lead you on a wild goose chase? It never ends up good. Hey Roger Clemens, we know you did it? We know everyone did it? We don't care anymore. Stop "Eddie Housing" the American public in the face! You won't get in the Hall of Fame. But face the music. You did it. I want to get this O.J. Mayo fiasco over too. O.J.......... Mayo, that is, we know you did it too! You took the money. And you didn't care where it was coming from? University of Southern California, we know you knew he was getting paid. How else would a poor kid form West Virginia have a flat screen TV in his dormitory? And hey, I have a heart, I can forgive. But this guy Rodney Guillory, "Mayo's Advisor" is pushing it. Ok, be a crook if you want, but where do you draw the line???? Using a card linked to a fake "Sickle Cell Anemia Fund?" That is low. That is so far bottom I have to quote the great Rutgers Women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer when I once heard her say at practice "That's so low, you have to reach up to touch the bottom."
